La Triviata's a go? Whee! I thought that had stalled out ... lots of good stuff listed in there, new Ianucci and Walliams / Brydon top that list for me.

Darkplace has had a confirmed dvd release but no details as to dates. It's being hinted at later this year but a release date is very vague. Apparently, they are working on a film aswell.

I thought Nick wrote most of Triviata. At least that's what he told me when the Shaun crew were it town a couple of summers ago. Simon was in on the writing for two episodes but had to pull out for Hard Fuzz prep.

two words snuff box another two words vanity project another two words no jokes another two words no suprise. the high production values do not make for self indulgent performances.bbc 3 latest wow joins the ranks of titty titty bang bang and hyperdriveuprise as a waste of money. ch 4 it crowd has jokes and plot and characters and still manages to suprise and alarm. bbc 3 comedy should stop trying to be weird and obscure and look at what makes people laugh. even q had jokes, even python had gags even viv n bob had characters-comedy has become like concept art a lot of bolloks

Snuffbox is well funny, and Elliot Stewart....you dont know what your talking about. Go and actually watch some of the show, not just the adverts about it.

it is who don't know what you are talking about i have watched all 3 episodes of snuff box so far.11 0 clock mondays( though i missed this weeks maybe that was the funny one)

if you truthfully find yourself laughing out loud at the antics of snuff box, good for you and good for bbc 3. if you are not alone in finding snuff box very funny i guess that bbc 3 will churn out more.
i think that's not good news.

the writing and performaces on the show continues to be basic and lazy.the musical numbers are short but painful.i don't find the shop beatings funny or the f... you sequence or the clepto who steals something you don't expect ( what a stunning comedy twist)

snuff box assumes that if i didn't laugh the first time if they do the joke again and again each week i will be knocked into submission.a novel concept i think not, it's the way things are done now in modern comedy-if your show isn't same each week people may not understand it and watch something more repetitive.

i loathe the repetition of recent comedy shows. each week the same sketch, shot the same way but slightly different.

all new and exciting comedy shows now are bastard love children of the fast show meets the league of gentlemen.they are repetitve and dark (ugh! hate that lazy piegon hole-just an excuse to be unpc, unfunny, morbid and negative and joke free)

snuff box not only hasn't a pair of jokes to rub together but the format lifts from jam and python's stream of consciousness without any of the wit or invention.

To Elliot - GOOD GOD MAN! How could you possibly show your distain for such a brilliantly written show such as Snuff Box? For someone who is so sure on his opinion, you sure have shitty punctuation and grammar. It kind of cheapens your argument. But that's my opinion.

Snuff Box is superbly written and deliciously surreal, and also quite unique in it's own right. Both Fuller and Berry aren't shy about showing off influences but never once rip off a single one of them I.E Morris (Wanking over Dundee), random time travel (Boosh - in which Fuller featured in in many a role) and Garth (Tinged in some aspects of the writing and atmosphere).
You also mentioned Python and Jam, both very successful cult comedy shows in their own right, I wouldn’t have even thought that either of them entered into the equation of Snuff Box until you mentioned them, and I still don’t know what you’re banging on about. Face it. Comedy is comedy.
Would you blame The Jam/Ramones/Pink Floyd/Nirvana because they use guitars and so did Jimi Hendrix. People put their own spin on things in their own way. That’s cool, as long as they make me laugh. You like the sound of one band, you’re sure to like the other unless they overstep the mark into pure rip of, which you can hardly accuse Fuller and Berry of doing with SB.

I love being sucked into Rich and Berry’s world every Monday night. I enjoy the dark yet comfy escapism that the show provides. Boosh, in all fairness, stole about 87% of their show from Vic and Bob but because they have that fashion factor, they're acceptable.

So what if there are no punch lines. There was a documentary on how comedy has changed on BBC3 not so long ago. Maybe you should have checked that out. It was about how comedy doesn't necessarily produce nor require a punch line any more. Surely situationalist comedy is about making you feel like it's happening to you, and if it was, I'm sure you wouldn't have canned laugher ready and waiting for that ever so respected "punch line".

Great writing is great writing and it’s nothing without the delivery and setting the scene, which I think they achieve with ease. I'm not saying punch lines aren't funny, but they've been done and leave a 'tacky' after-taste in some/most cases. Peep Show thrives on its writing as the episode plays out, not setting them up to knock ‘em down kind of comedy.

But I will say this; the rapping sketch was fucking awful.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it or piss on people from a great height for watching it. Turn the channel and let the numbness of Two Pints Of Larger… ease your fragile mind.

as a keen comedy trainspotter i am aware of different styles and influences. your music analogy made sense but when i see snuff box it reminds me of spinal taps i hope you like our new direction acoustic odessey-plodding and indulgent, spinal tap is funny because the bands so bad. snuffbox is just bad, have you seen ripping yarns i know it's old, but palin and jones manage to combine the gothic and bizarre and have gags and a mysterious plots in half hour something snuff box have bearly scratched the surface of in 90 mins!

the collision of victoriana and derek and clive that snuff box wishes it was may conceptually shine over tired traditional sitcoms of recent years but and this is a big but snuff box borrows from hear and there and everywhere and in its own unique stle does nothing new or amusing with what it has stolen

snuff box has a wandering narrative similar to that python shows and jam, the sketches flow into each other. i will keep watching snuff box, i write comedy shows ( come to kingston in may) and feel the best way to write funny comedy is to watch everything, be eclectic, watch are u being served ,watch dr strangelove, watch the chuckle brothers, watch pete and dud and vic and bob and laurel and hardy and the goodies, the avengers, dr who, it crowd, even last of the bloody summer wine. why?

Because the show you write after that will have the ensemble cast, the sinister slapstick, the farce, the surreal wit, the pathos, the out there invention, the double act, the sharp plot and dammn it jokes,real jokes of all the above.

I won't go on but, elliot stewart's comments read to me like a man slighted. Slighted at the simple fact that, (put simply) Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher are 'doing it' and Stewart wishes he was. Fair enough, we can all be ninjas from behind a keyboard but you come across as a little bitter. And, to keep pluging your own comedy show above some pub in Kingston or wherever while denouncing something as enjoyable (I have only seen the first two) as The Snuff Box is also a bit sad.

it's funny, snuff box isn't.

i can plug and denounce at the same time it's called multi tasking and it's a complulsion.

I tune into snuff box to see if it gets any better with an open mind, to see what all u guys really get and i don't. i put effort into watching comedy so i can write sharper funnier shows i don't tune in to deleberately have something to complain about, i just wish bbc 3 comedy would improve as in my opinion it is....well you know how i feel.

I have to say it is a bit shit though. Matt Berry used to work as a chamber of horrors wax work at Madame Tussauds (interestingly along with Elliot and Duncan Bailey and a couple of others who formed Aroused and Confused - at the Canal Cafe(News Review, League of Gentlemen) - and then Invisible Commissions with Sex and Lies etc) and he was a one-joke kind of a guy then. Just having a deep voice isn't really enough and he never struck me as particularly amusing - although Garth Merengie (sp?) was quite good. I gave it a thorough watching, waiting for it to be funny - but alas, no.... about as funny as wax.

I think the important fact that people seemt to miss about Snuffbox is that it isn't a proper comedy prgramme. It's much more like Jam in that way just without the sinister satire.

I first read about the show in Arena and only knew of Matt Berry from Darkplace (which I did think was great, but not because of him) so I came to it with no preconceptions except that I read that it was basically a sketch show.

The first couple of times I saw it, I thought it was a bit shit but soemthing made me laugh so I started downloading it and it's still on my hard drive which is quite a feat at the moment.

I really enjoy the mixture of comedy, music, horror, surrealism and bizarreness (if that's a word which it's not) of it all and I thought it was superior to Hyperdrive, certainly better than TittyBangBollocks and a million miles ahead of the IT Crowd.

Oh and I agree that laughter tracks can be useful in a comedy programme but get this. When I'm Alan Partridge 2 came out everyone I knew said, "I can't believe they put a laughter track on it, it's ridiculous." The original show had a laughter track on it. If you notice the laugh track on a programme, the programme is shit.

Well i don't have the same ability to dissect comedy in the way others seem to on this site. All i know is Matt Berry was very funny in Darkplace as he was very funny in the Boosh and was not only very funny in Snuff Box but also very inventive. Sorry couldn't help it.

i was recently contacted by one of snuffboxes cast and given a bit of a telling off and i understand why.

i have rewatched snuff box on youtube, still not my thing but i should have just said that and that's all.

my main gripe was bbc 3 not snuff box itself. there are a lot worse shows than snuff box. i just can't think of any right now. kidding,kidding.

there's a multitude of duff sketch shows about relationships or contempary lads up to no good I think both matt berry and Rich fulcher are talented and funny chaps, maybe snuffbox wasn't the right vehicle for them. see i can be nice.
