Si-Sei (Shisei) is based on the eponymous (with regard to the Japanese title) short story "The Tattooer" ("Shisei") by Jun'ichirô Tanizaki. It stars Rei Yoshii and Tomohisa Yuge.

Art Port K.K. (K.K. Âto Pôto) is scheduled to release Si-Sei theatrically in Japan on February 25th, and on sale DVD (APS-93; NTSC, region 2, no subtitles) there on March 24th. The DVD can be pre-ordered online from such retailers as CD Japan (Neo Wing K.K. / K.K. Neo Wingu) and Amazon Japan K.K..

Satô's previous directing credits include the story "Caterpillar" ("Imomushi") in the omnibus horror movie Rampo Noir (Ranpo jigoku), and Naked Blood (Naked blood: megyaku) - a.k.a. "Megyaku: akuma no yorokobi - itai no ga suki" (VHS box title).
