Mad Cowgirl Website And Trailer. Don't Know How Many Cows It's Got, But There's Plenty of Madness ...

(Posted In Cult Film News Trailer Alert USA and Canada )

madcowgirl.jpgGregory Hatanaka's Mad Cowgirl ended up being one of the major buzz films at the just concluded SF Indie Fest - it was the only narrative film in the festival given an extra screening thanks to the major buzz around it - and having checked out the site it's easy to see why. Hatanaka actually dropped us a line about the film a while ago but at the time all the site had was a still or two and so we'd been holding off until there was more to point you to, and man, is there ever ...

First, the official synopsis, if you can call it that:

"Sarah Lassez (Nowhere, The Blackout, Until the Night) delivers a star-making performance as Therese, an ass-kicking health inspector with a failed marriage, an on-going affair with a creepy televangelist, nymphomania, and an obsession with old kung-fu movies. Further complicating her life is a very questionable relationship with her brother Thierry (James Duval from The Doom Generation and Donnie Darko), a meat importer who may (or may not) have infected her with mad cow disease.

Mad Cowgirl is practically impossible to describe, but it's a Narrative - Experimental - Art - Comedy - Horror - Tragedy - Kung Fu epic that features multiple languages, a little hardcore porn, a flying guillotine, the old ultraviolence and Walter Koenig (Cmdr. Pavel Chekov) as a slimy sex-addicted preacher. Great Scott!

It could also be described as a film about a woman who is dying of a brain disorder, and her surreal journey which descends into violence; or perhaps, it's about a woman who hates her job, and the men in her life, so she is driven to kill the Ten Tigers From Kwangtung."

This looks so insanely wacky. Bollywood song and dances, Chinese powerpop ballads and porno all in one movie...yowza.

This movie stands out from all the rest that screened in San Francisco. It totally shakes your mind as the movie led to more sweet madness and hilarious absurdity for Therese (the anti-heroine in the movie). And, despite its novelty, it's a well-acted and, surprisingly, dramatically-driven movie, too! When I thought it was all over, the last part of the movie totally pays off! This movie totally rocks!
