So, we're having a programming meeting for Toronto After Dark at my place last night - good things are coming, oh yes, there will be good things - and part way through the night Adam suddenly looked straight at me and belted out, "Have you seen the trailer for Special yet? You have to see Special. Have you seen the trailer yet? It looks really great. Have you seen ..." Adam's an excitable fellow. I hadn't seen it, but in the face of that much enthusiasm it's hard to do anything but follow along, so we fired 'er up and, oh my ...
The criminally underused Michael Rapaport - seriously, does this guy ever turn in a weak performance? - stars in a blacker than black comedy about a man who suddenly devlops super powers. Or does he? Maybe it's just the medication. This thing looks fantastic. And painful. And very, very funny. Fantastically, painfully funny. Yes.

Same picture for SLEEPER and SPECIAL? Surely shum mishtake...
Whoopsie. All better now.
Michael Rapaport is IMOP the only thing good about THE WAR AT HOME. That TV show SUCKS...
Special looks like it's going to be awesome. And I like Michael Rapaport in just about every film I've seen him in. I rember his performance in Beautiful Girls... which I enjoyed.
damn, that is special. that goes into my must-watch list.
This trailer kind of gives away the twist, if it is a twist to begin with, that he's just crazy after all...or is that what they want me to think? Duhm duhm duhm!
no, i'm pretty sure that is the twist.
jsut got around to watching it. surprised to see that guy from kids show 'drake and josh' which is pretty popular with the kids here in the UK, must have shot that show some time back and hes a little older now... looks live a good, odd movie. very dry, my kind of funny.
"you're reading my mind right now" lol
this movie actually really scares me!
it could be quite awesome.
about the kid from drake and josh... if you want to see him in a recent movie watch Mean Creek. i actually recommend that movie, it has a very intellegent undertone of the cycle of violnce.
i saw SPECIAL at a top secret industry screening in LA last week and it was AWESOME! I laughed... I cried... I walked away a very happy man. kudos to the filmmakers for going ballz out!
God I hope this movie makes me cry
Amen.
The only problem with Michael Rapaport in a movie is that his on screne time is never enough. He really breathes life to his characters. I can't wait to see this film. The trailer drew me in and I want more. But first it has to be released near me.
What gives... let's go.
