Lucky McKee's The Woods Trailer

(Posted In Film News Horror Trailer Alert USA and Canada )

woodspic2.jpgSo, Lucky McKee's The Woods is now officially caught in studio hell, lost in a sea of studio bankruptcies and mergers, now a property of Sony. You'd think being part of the Sony empire would make life simple for McKee's films, but apparently no ... word is that none of Sony's many imprints and distribution arms want to release McKee's film. I'm baffled. Simply baffled. The cast is great, the buzz for the film has been huge, and having finally seen the trailer I have to say that the film looks fantastic. I'd drop coin to see this in a theater in a heartbeat.

And while that trailer has yet to turn up online in any official capacity I've just had a reader send it in and since Sony seems content to do nothing at all with it I'm going to post it here, at least until someone in a position of authority tells me to stop it. Check it out.

Looks damn fine. Who knows how these people think sometimes.

This trailer is on a DVD as part of the coming attractions forced at the opening of the disc. Can't remember which movie, though.

» Posted by dullboy at February 16, 2006 11:59 AM

That is nice. Very nice. (I believe it was on the Amityville remake or one of the original Amityville Box-Set DVDs, but I could be wrong...)

Why this film has been given such bad treatment is beyond me. Look at the undergound success of MAY and the performance of horror/thriller films in general. This is giving a studio some chance a both a profitible film (if marketed on a reasonable scale) and a prestige genre picture at the same time.

But, that being said, I've not seen the whole film / working cut / etc.

Same thing was done to May.
Great reviews but I had to wait a while to be able to see it.

I have been waiting for the woods for almost 2 years darn it.

» Posted by Brendon at February 17, 2006 10:22 AM

it's up in quicktime at this website. it's a little slow, so you may want to quit all your other programs, but it's there!!

I can only hear the preview, I can't see it. Sure sounds cool though.

» Posted by Mags at February 17, 2006 04:47 PM

If you're having trouble viewing you need to download the latest codecs. Just google 'video codec pack' and you'll find lots of multi-codec options you can download.

» Posted by Todd Brown at February 17, 2006 05:18 PM

Also, this program will pretty much play the hell out of anything: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Thanks for the trailer, though at first watch, it looks as if the writers were stoned with the mixture of ideas, but it does look good.

Thanks for the trailer. Oh, and all you who can't get it to play, and all you who keep saying "get codecs" bugger that, just download ANY avi file and it will play in Windows Media Player. Try it. That's how I watched it, or winamp works too.

I shouldn't be saying this but, I live in LA and I accidentally saw a version of the trailer that the director did himself, and it was even better than this. It was actually AMAZING... So I gotta say, I'm pretty pumped to see it!! Hoping this puts some pressure on Sony to smarten up and release it already.

» Posted by todd at February 19, 2006 04:10 PM

Looks pretty cool, not to mention Bruce Campbell's in it. I mean scary chicks, scary woods AND Ash in the same flick? That's worth Sony releasing this puppy right now!

» Posted by ZaphodB at February 20, 2006 08:55 AM

it played for me, but kept jumping to the green this preview has been approved thing every other frame, is anyone else getting that?

Sony Studios, if you are reading this, please for love of all fans, RELEASE THIS MOVIE to the general public. Put it on the BIG SCREEN and let us SEE IT in all it GLORY. (Sorry had to rant, lol)

Now here's what a horror/pyschological thriller oughta be. I was a bit hesistant at first whether or not this movie would be any good - judging by the storyline. But now that I've had the opportunity to see the trailer, I'd pay for FULL price for this movie! This movie looks amazingly frightening, intense, and has from what I believe to be - GOOD ACTING and a GOOD STORY.

Thank you to the person who posted the trailer on here. :)

I read somewhere Fiona Apple fans mailed apples into her record company to get them to release Extraordinary Machine, and it worked! Maybe we should send leaves and sticks in to Sony...?

» Posted by todd at February 21, 2006 12:21 PM

This movie looks great! I would like to finally see a decent horror movie in the theaters but leave it to Sony to think otherwise. Guess we are stuck with all the meaningless romance movies they come up with.

» Posted by Tiffany at February 26, 2006 11:37 PM

i can't get this d@mn thing to work either!! ugh, it is so anoying! i just want to break this stupid computer!!!!! but by what i am reading from all you guys, it sounds really good. i do hope Sony releases this movie soon!

Is there just a long queue or is the link null and void now? Because I'm dying to see this trailer (absolutely loved May), but I can't seem to get the download to work?

» Posted by James at April 6, 2006 02:50 PM

I think the film looks fantastic - but I also think its another one of those cheesy films. I will definatly be seeing it when it comes out.

» Posted by Ria at April 11, 2006 07:52 AM
