ghost_of_valentine.jpgA trailer for Yuthlert Sippapak's Ghost of Valentine (Krasue Valentine) has just been added to the official website for the movie. (Thanks to toede^^ in KFC Cinema's Asian Horror Films forum for pointing this out.)

Ghost of Valentine stars 'Ploy' Jindachoti and Pitisak Yaowananon. Sahamongkol Film International Co. Ltd. is scheduled to release it theatrically in Thailand on Valentine's Day (Tuesday February 14th; movies normally are released theatrically in Thailand on Thursdays).

Here's a synopsis for Ghost of Valentine from the English-language page for the movie on the website of MovieSeer Co. Ltd.: "A beautiful nurse has just moved to work in an old hospital. There, she's the beloved among her colleagues because of her graceful personality and mind. There's also a guy who works as the janitor for the hospital, he falls for the nurse at first sight. The first rose he gives to the nurse leads to their true love. Surprisingly, the nurse discovers an old photo of a couple hiding in the hospital, which is the photo of her pastlife. She's going to tell the guy about this surprise, but the guy suddenly turns into a disability after involved in an accident. He can move his body no more, only the eyes that still blinking. Meanwhile, the nurse finally realizes the horrible truth behind her mysterious illness, there's something abnormal and supernatural inside her body, something that she just doesn't want to accept."

According to View from the Brooklyn Bridge, "the Phii Krasue is a very scary ghost in Thai mythology. It consists of a flying head with entrails hanging from it and a voracious hunger for blood and intestines. It uses its long flicking tongue to lick the dead carcass and sharp teeth to chew on it. It has a similarity with a ghost type from Malaysia called the penanggalan ('head with dancing intestines'). This type of ghost has been depicted at least a couple of times previously in Asian films with Hong Kong's 'Witch with the Flying Head' (1977) and Indonesia's 'Mystics In Bali' (1981)."

Sippapak's previous directing credits include Buppah Rahtree and Buppah Rahtree Phase 2: Rahtree Returns.

The trailer didn't really give me any idea what the movie would be like. It seemed to focus more on the love story part, with only one small glimpse of horror. I gotta say that I really love that poster and wish there were a way to purchase Thai movie posters online!

The poster gave me an idea that the woman was some sort of a "creature of the night" like the philippine version of aswang etc...i remember thailand has this woman that turns into a decapitated head with some of its intestine hanging, who preys for pregnant woman.
