IMPRINT. by Takashi Miike. R1 USA DVD from Anchoy Bay in Fall 2006.

mastersofhorror.jpgGenerally, hopefully at least, all those that post at Twitch should know (and do know, except for slight slips perhaps) better than to do companies promotional work 'for them' by writing about things were not very close to at least 100% happy about discussing, recommending and giving space or time to. In an attempt to simply post about the announcement that 'Imprint' will hit DVD (as expected) in an uncut form (as expected) sometime this year (as expected), and that Takashi Miike didn't compromise (too far, as expected) and wasn't shocked that the episode was dropped (he says, see below, as expected), well : here it is, a post that confirms that Anchor Bay are making a simple announcement that confirms they will release the film and instead of them hyping it to kingdom-come (let the forum discussions commence, they can do the hyping for them, if a few dozen peoples brief comments we're ever hype - well, only if you misunderstand the brief nature of comments resulting from people all too often typing with their two index fingers) they're simply letting us know, simply confirming it will be 'with oodles of extras' as it were, a well timed press release if you like.

Miike has been quoted as saying, "“To tell you the truth, I was not surprised to hear that IMPRINT would not air. Through the experience of directing this episode, I have discovered that while humor can have its limits, fear has no limits. I could not suppress the volume of terror that this film conveys.”. This must be the highlight of the first season of Masters of Horror then, generally now regarded as a little lacklustre to say the least, with a couple of episodes being "pretty good" as they say. Plenty of other things to be buying and watching in the meantime, just keep an eye out here for the final date, artwork and specs, because I like Takashi Miike and I want to see more of his work on DVD.

MOH has been highly disappointing. Certainly I am entertained while watching the episodes but ultimately there will be no more than 2 or 3 of them that I'll even consider buying on DVD. The rest I have no desire to watch ever again. And with much of the same "talent" returning for the second season I don't expect it to improve any. The only thing about season two that excites me a little tiny bit is that Clive Barker will write an original teleplay for it. Since none of his dozen own movie projects ever get made this may be the only Clive Barker movie fix I'll get next year.

Well its no secret that for whatever reason Showcase (too harsh for tv or a clever marketing scam to sell more dvds) didnt screen Miikes episode of Masters Of Horror.

I asked the English channel Bravo who's airing MOH if they plan on screening it..

We have yet to see the infamous episode in question and therefore cannot give a definitive answer at this time. HOWEVER, we do not envision a scenario where we will be unable to broadcast "Imprint" given its late-night timeslot, so tune in on April 7th at 11pm to see if we really do "have the balls to show what the others don't"!
