Jason Statham goes after Jet Li in Rogue

(Posted In Action Film News Martial Arts USA and Canada )

jasonstathamjetli.jpgEver since I saw The Transporter, I took a liking to Jason Statham as the next action hero-guy-whatever. He got the tough guy presence but most inportantly, he got the athleticism to carry the action. According to an article I read at Comingsoon.net, he is teaming up with Jet Li again in an action-thriller called the Rogue. They previously work together in The One.

....Music video director Philip Atwell will make his feature helming debut. Corey Yuen, who directed Statham in The Transporter, is choreographing and directing the action scenes.

The storyline centers on Jack Crawford (Statham), whose partner Tom Lone and Lone's family are killed by an assassin for the Chang crime family. Crawford becomes obsessed with finding the elusive and brutal killer, Rogue (Li).

Production is scheduled to begin in March on location in Vancouver.

I always been a fan of Jet and he did a good job playing the ruthless villian in Lethal Weapon 4. With these two guys againest each other, this got the potential to be an exciting cat and mouse action movie.

what happened to Fearless being the last martial arts/action movie for Jet Li?

» Posted by m1k3y at January 17, 2006 07:16 AM

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.

Fearless is his last martial arts movie. Not his last action movie, as he specified before.

I thought Li said he could be persuaded to return to action films, but only if he felt that the storyline was strong and something more substantial than your typical "beat 'em up" plot.

Wierd, I was thinking he was done with this stuff, but I'm glad he isn't!

That IS good news. I'm a big fan of established 'hero actors' as villains. Plus I'd hate to lose Jet Li from the action film genre.

great, cast the asian man as the villian, again. nevermind that jet's the more famous one and a veteran.

So he should be the hero because he's more famous?
Never saw The One but heard it's crap and Li's western films have been rather lackluster, aside from Danny the dog which was brilliant.

i just want to say that The One was the best film ever made.

dont make insulting comments towards it unless you have seen it.

as i understand it, li said "fearless" would be his last wushu film. wushu is a specific type of martial art. so, he'll still be making kung-fu films; just not the old-fashioned kind. no more queue for jet.
