Kurt Wimmer's Ultraviolet Trailer Online

(Posted In Action Martial Arts Sci-Fi / Fantasy Trailer Alert USA and Canada )

ultravioletposter.jpgWhoo Hoo! Finally, the trailer for Kurt Wimmer's Ultraviolet has hit the net exclusively on the Ugo site. In the lead role is Milla Jovovich who past credits included Resident Evil and The Fifth Element. It looks like Kurt has taken the concept of gun kata from Equilibrium and up the ante on this sci-fi action movie. The studio has afforded Kurt with a larger budget than his last project and it really shows that he put good use with it into the visual effects. As for the action scenes from the trailer, it looks pretty damn cool. Here is the synopsis taken from imdb:

Set in the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence, and as they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war (a war between humans and hemophages) aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet (Jovovich), who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans.

Sony and Screen Gems will release this movie threatically on February 24. I'm counting the days till this movie is out.

*drool* it just looks so pretty!

I wish someone would save this link and host it because UGO sucks and it won't load, no matter what I do.

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 04:20 PM

Also, it's amazing that this is a UGO exclusive. If Sony wants to make any money on this movie at all, they need to get the trailer into theatres and on TV screens! It's like a month away!

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 04:29 PM

try loading it in Internet Explorer if you use Firefox. That worked for me. Shoddy UGO site....grumble

and the movie looks like fun. Pretty much Equilibrium with a bigger budget. we'll see how it plays out...

» Posted by michael lobster at January 13, 2006 04:56 PM

I tried both and nothing worked. What a sad day for me (bad virus on my laptop that I can't get rid of, losing my job, and not being able to see the trailer for one of my most anticipated movies of 2006).

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 05:02 PM

who sings the song at the end of the trailer, the song with the female voice?

» Posted by jdawg at January 13, 2006 05:11 PM

I don't know, I CAN'T SEE IT! :(

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 05:28 PM

This is the direct link to the file, try copying and pasting into your browser or a download manager.

» Posted by Aaron at January 13, 2006 05:28 PM

The female voice is Jem. the song is "24".

» Posted by Dan at January 13, 2006 05:29 PM

Link doesn't work, Aaron. I'm ready for seppuku.

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 05:36 PM

Try the hotlink now, bee ... it was a long URL, scrolling off the edge of the page ... it worked fine for me like this ...

Oh, and congrats ... we'll be making the announcement once Nat's got everything firm ...

HTTP 404 NOT FOUND

But that's cool...I'll see it when it's available to download somewhere. And thanks for the congratulations...probably the only good thing I've got going right now.

» Posted by crazybee at January 13, 2006 06:21 PM

Eventually the trailer will be up at the official site. I assuming atleast in two weeks if they will attach the trailer with Underworld 2 when it opens.

» Posted by Wolf at January 13, 2006 06:41 PM

Well...that looks awesome.

» Posted by Tory at January 13, 2006 06:56 PM

"My name is Violet, I am a Bounty Hunter"

Ok, I'm kidding. But it looks like Wimmer is still watching The Wachowski Brothers, with a lot of Kill Bill/Beatrix thrown in for good measure.

Equilibrium got by a large part on the Charm of Christian Bale, (and to a lesser extent, Sean Bean and Emily Watson)...Dunno if Ms. Jovovich is up to the task, but you'll still find me at the cinema on opening day...I do like this kind of eye candy.

» Posted by Kurt at January 13, 2006 06:57 PM

Wow, it took me all day to finally get a computer that would play this damnable UGO-hosted trailer.

I don't know, folks. It looks like this film could make up for Aeon Flux and both those Resident Evil flicks combined.

Kurt Wimmer, I'm glad you're back to surprise us again...

» Posted by Chazy Sciota at January 13, 2006 08:36 PM

ooo pretty trailer. i love the visual style. it's kind of retro-70s futuristic.

heh, kurt, that's what i was thinking too, about the opening monologue. actually it also reminds me of the opening narration of resident evil apocalypse, especially with the lab scientists and virus-gone-wrong...

still, i'll likely see it. and milla is soooo beautiful...

» Posted by nick botulism at January 13, 2006 10:09 PM

a gun-kata movie, i'm so there.

» Posted by joeybrash at January 13, 2006 10:39 PM

and, oh yeah, i'm so in love

you have my guns...

» Posted by joeybrash at January 13, 2006 10:43 PM

Looks: 10/10, This film looks absolutely stunning... a live action Ghost in the Shell.

As for the quoted Dialogue: Erm.... 6/10 and I'm flattering it here. It's just total cheese, Arnie can get away with those lines, but not Milla... but it still might work in a good way. And hot damn, it looks real purdy.

When's it out in Canada?

» Posted by Adam Lopez at January 13, 2006 11:50 PM

it's not the line, it's the way she said it...

» Posted by joeybrash at January 14, 2006 12:00 AM

Wow, Dave's finally got the downloadable link for the trailer up, and I started downloading it before it stopped at 95%, and now it won't come back. This is not my day!!!

» Posted by crazybee at January 14, 2006 01:00 AM

Actually, the "My name is Violet" thing made me have flashbacks of RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE and its "My name is Alice" especially because both were with Milla's voice. Does she have to introduce her character by name in every trailer?

» Posted by Caterpillar at January 14, 2006 02:49 AM

I loved Equilibrium.

I can't wait to see this. :)

» Posted by loonatik at January 14, 2006 03:20 AM

The trailer is no longer at the site, does anyone have a rip of it yet?

» Posted by Jin Soatome at January 14, 2006 03:43 PM

i love milla, she's so versatile!

» Posted by deeplydubbed at January 14, 2006 05:14 PM

Yeah, this is ridiculous. UGO should be ashamed for screwing a lot of us over with their horrible unstable server. Of course, I haven't seen the trailer yet, but no one respondes to my plea for help...

» Posted by crazybee at January 14, 2006 05:58 PM

Does anyone have an alternate link to the trailer, possibly a zip...anything?

» Posted by Sanjuro at January 14, 2006 07:15 PM

Looks like they changed the path to the file for some reason ... This one should work ...

» Posted by Todd Brown at January 14, 2006 08:20 PM

Ah ... they've got something blocking direct downloads ... you've got to either go to the UGO page and play it embedded or grab it using the URL in that link above with something like Net Transport ...

» Posted by Todd Brown at January 14, 2006 08:22 PM

this movie looks awesome but why UGO is the only one with the trailer for it is beyond me.
