Don't Mess With the Bird-People! Fillipino Fantasy TV Show Mulawin Makes The Jump To The Big Screen ...

Oh, man ... I confess that I'm just a sucker for these things. High art? Hell no, but it looks like it could be a guilty pleasure a la all those low budget Japanese masked (and helmeted) superhero flicks ...

Mulawin is a Filipino big screen adaptation of a popular television series that stars Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin - both of whom also star in Sigaw - as a pair of winged supernatural beings (Angels? Bird people?) who forsake their powers to live mortal lives. Or at least they would if the bad guys didn't awaken a giant fire breathing dragon to kill them. Joey Fernandez passed along the website link, whcih includes detailed character breakdowns, and while I haven't been able to find a trailer anywhere I have found a news report that includes a brief reel of footage at the end. Campy trash, yes, but it looks like it could be fun campy trash. Gutierrez and Locsin have both proven themselves to be decent actors in other work so it at least has that much going for it.
