Radiohead to Score Linklater's A Scanner Darkly!?!

Am I the only one who finds that style of animation completely obnoxious?

just wait until you see it. the animation on Scanner is amazing. it's not like waking life if thats what your worried about.

My Favourite author, my favourite band + one of my favourite directors! If they can hold it all together the results will be very interesting!

I guess it really is just me then. I just feel like you should either go with live action, or go with animation; when you mix the two they don't really mesh up too well.

As far as Radiohead goes, I think they proved they aren't very good at writing original scores when they did that NYC dance thing with Sigur Ros. All though, Johnny Greenwood did a neat little soundtrack for a BBC documentary that was all right.

A serious, animated sci-fi adaptation, and a new RADIOHEAD album! Count me in thrice!

Radiohead performed that "score" LIVE. They went with the intention of not trying to make real music. They just wanted to "experiment." Obviously their scoring will be completely different for a real movie. Bodysong is a perfect example of this, although I think the whole band together would do better.

As for the animation, I can see your point, but I disagree. I think it adds an element of disassociation, as with Waking Life, where you lose yourself and the movie gains an entirely new eerie "glow" to so say. After a while you stop noticing...

One thing I must say is that the faces look TOO photo-realistic. Almost as if they just added some photoshop effects to real photos. Maybe it'll look better in longer clips, but with the short ones from the preview, it looks like photos pasted into awesome animation. I'll still love the hell out of this though :-D

Best band ever + director of the best movie ever + one of the best authors ever (Do androids dream of electric sheep?) who wrote the novel which inspired one of the best sci-fi movies ever (Blade Runner) = a lot of good things :-D

I already was looking forward to this very very much, but if this rumor turns out to be true I'll go crazy with anticipation.

It's a shame that Keanu is asuch a wooden actor, but I'd like to point out that the one character he does well (nerd with no ideas about what's going on around him) would probably fit this movie well, from what I've seen. Just look at the first Matrix movie. He was horrible in that, but it worked perfectly.

Not to mention Radiohead, for the love of god. What an awesome band.

Radiohead doing the Score for Scanner would be perfect. They already have a great director and a great cast, so that would be awesome. As for Keanu, I admit I quite like the guy, he has a long career and makes really interesting choices of work. Plus, he plays lost and confused better than any actor and nobody can deny that Bob Arctor is that way more than half of the story. I think he is pitch perfect to play Arctor as Downey is to play Barris.

It's not just you Jake. I don't find that animation style very pleasent. It just seems pointless to shoot film and then smother it in block colours unless you want a contrasting sequence.
As for beauty...that is in the eye of the beholder, as has been long established.

I am reading "A Scanner Darkly" book right now, it is excellent, the movie will probably be just as good. Read the book if you get the chance.

this move looks brilliant, but i cant help wishing Edward Norton replaced Keanu Reeves.

and as for radiohead? i could just see them using old radiohead songs for this movie and it still being superb.
