New update from Midnighteye.com has just gone up. There's an interview with Lee Sang-Il and a review of his film 'Sixty Nine' (i think there's a subtitled Korean disc of that out there recently, beginning of June 2005 i think). Also in there is a review of Takeshi Kitano vehichle 'Blood and Bones', and one of 'Sengoku 1549' aka 'Samurai Commando : Mission 1549', which is a remake or reworking of an old Sonny Chiba movie 'G.I. Samurai' if i remember correctly.
Also still online, the extensive preview of Tom Mes book on Shinya Tsukamoto, which (with a slight delay) came out on the 15th. Got my copy through last week and have nosed through it all pretty much, and read some of the specific chapters on particular films. If you haven't picked it up, I would highly recommend it as it fleshes out (in a very accesible way) everything. Should enrich your viewing of both Tsukamotos' influential and important films themselves, and potentially Japanese Cinema in general. You should find it in a limited edition hardback at Fabpress.com or in paperback at your local Amazon.
Now, go to MidnightEye.
the Korean DVD of 69 only has Japanese and Korean subs. But it's a really nice 2 Disc edition, so if you have a HTPC you could just take a chance and look for English Subs (assuming you need them).
Blood & Bones also got a decent Korean release, although without English subs, isn't that right?
i think it had a korean release, fairly quietly, and without subs... theres signs of a thai release, maybe, on dvd soon. still waiting for some way of watching it...
Correct. Korean uncut release with only Korean and Japanese subs. That's the norm nowadays. I was surprised they subtitled Vibrator, actually.
