Torrente 3 Trailer

(Posted In Action Comedy Continental Europe and Russia Film News Trailer Alert )

torrente3.jpgJanick from KFC Cinema just dropped me a note steering me to the trailer for Torrente 3, the third installment of the popular Spanish action comedy franchise. I've heard some good things about these, the trailer looks fun, and I've got to say that the idea of a balding, overweight, middle aged Spaniard as an action hero is not without some inherent chuckle value ... anybody out there seen these? Worth tracking down?

That looks cool, I've never heard of the franchise before. I'll have to check it out

The first two movies, Torrente the Dumb Arm of the Law and Torrente 2: Mission in Marbella, both are pretty uneven (the first one is slightly better of the two). The humor is low-brow, silly, often very un-PC; the jokes and gags are very much hit-and-miss - though the ones that hit are truly uproarious (one of my favorites, from the first one, is when a wanna-be sidekick of the "hero" explains why Mark Dacascos' fighting style is cool). Santiago Segura is very funny as the inept Torrente, though be warned that his acting style is VERY broad... All in all, the movies are no classics, but good for a few belly-laughs...

Part 2 is available as an R1 disc, but not Part 1 (yet, anyway).

The Torrente films are cult classics...it's just too bad nobody outside Spain has heard of em. Very mean-spirited, twisted comedies... kind of in the vain of Alex De La Iglesia movies.

To begin... I have been reading your scribings for a while now without comment. That just doesn't seem like the proper thing to do, so.. here I go.
Currently, I am sitting in Madrid, Espana watching the trailer and nodding my head as to why everyone here loves Torrente films.
The Torrente films are pretty decent by nature, well shot and can make you giggle like a schoolgirl getting face-raped by a teddybear. I wouldn't say they are Spain's best work (I might have to include El Dia de la Bestia [day of the beast] for being my favorite), but torrente is pretty damn entertaining. Just the use of weirdo comedy , sex and violence that you dont see too often in the states. Definitely worth watching with a cerveza in one hand and your girlfriend's (or sister's) ass in the other.

Torrente is the BEST. Never seen such a great comedie. I manually translated part 2 in dutch undertitles because part 2 is difficult to get in my country. Torrente rules

Torrente is a racist, right wing, fat, egotitst, macho attitude, greedy, thief, inept, stupid, and MR nobody guy.
I mean he is almost the best part of every one of us so when you watch the movies your meet yourself inside (unluckuly) probably that is the basis of his politically incorrect success.
