Big Time Casting News For Woo's Battle of Red Cliff!

Chow Yun Fat has already signed on board John Woo's upcoming period action piece The Battle of Red Cliff and the rumor has always been that Woo wanted to go multinational with this one, casting people from all around Asia to draw in audiences all over the continent. Early rumblings were that he was after Korean mega-star Kwon Sang Woo to take a role and while that one hasn't panned out yet two more have according to Monkey Peaches.

Who's on board? Tony Leung Chiu Wai, most recently of Hero fame, and Ken Watanabe, best known on these shores for his recent turns in The Last Samurai and Batman Begins. Watanabe, Leung and Chow Yun Fat? I am so there ...

Amen to that ... at the very least it'll be better acted than his last one was, though. Apparently I've blocked the title completely from my mind. Curse you, Ben Affleck!

Yeah, wow. Killer lineup. The "movie" youre thinking about, Todd, was Paycheck. One of the killers of that movie for me was the obvious deus ex machina/John Woo trademark of climactic slow-motion/bird/fire that i saw coming half an hour before it actually happened. Here's hoping Mr. Woo doesn't rest so much on his laurels for Battle of Red Cliff.
