onna_keiji.jpgThe official subsite for Seiji Yamada's Shin kaidan zangyaku hidô: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki still is online. There are twenty-four stills from the movie here on the site, and a downloadable trailer there on it (viewer discretion is advised). Yamada wrote the story and screenplay for the movie, and was the planner for it. It was edited by Natsuhiko Kyôgoku, who was also responsible for its sound effects. (Kyôgoku was the yôkai casting director for, and is himself in, Takashi Miike's Yôkai daisensô. Also, Akio Jissôji's horror movie Ubume no natsu - which is being released theatrically in Japan on Saturday (July 16th) - is based on his eponymous novel.) It starred Yukiko Saitani as Kazuko Sasai, Kazuhiro Hashimoto as Zombieichi (Zonbiichi), Maria Yumeno as the zombie maid (she's in Kei Nakata's Ecstasy Express (Shiberia Chôtokkyû: yokubô ressha), and starred in Daisuke Yamanouchi's Yumeno Maria: chô-inran onna no shiseikatsu), Tamami Kaneko as the zombie female ninja, Baranosuke Itabashi as Dr. Tamiya, Erina Nakanishi as Moeko Sasai, Yukari Ôno as Yukari, Kaoru Suguri as Kaoru, Masumi Shirai as Masumi, Taiji Doi as the artificial human, Jun Miyahara as the phantom killer, Hirokatsu Kihara as the head of the detective division (he co-authored the Shin Mimibukuro series of books that the omnibus horror movie Tales of Terror (Kaidan Shin Mimibukuro: gekijô-ban) was based on), (Seiji) Yamada as a medical doctor, and (Natsuhiko) Kyôgoku as the narrator.

Shin kaidan zangyaku hidô: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki was released theatrically in Japan on October 5, 2003. It can be purchased on DVD (NTSC, region 2, no subtitles) either by mail-order from Yamada's Office Yurika (Ofisu Yurika) or - with different case art, bearing the title "Yôki kaidan zenshû: bangai-hen: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki" - from general retailers (e.g., YesAsia, CD Japan, and Amazon Japan).

If you've seen Shin kaidan zangyaku hidô: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki, please let us know below what you thought of it. Ditto if you've seen Katsuya Matsumura's controversial 'docudrama' Concrete-Encased High School Girl Murder Case (Joshikôsei konkurîto-zume satsujin-jiken), or Kenji Ônishi's experimental horror Squareworld (Sukueawârudo).
