Wow. Wow, wow, wow. A fascinating link here from Cameron ...
While the American MPAA continues along its incredibly wrong headed and destined to fail miserably campaign to stomp out file sharing and the downloading of films and television shows at least one major global broadcaster is showing that they actually get it when it comes to the potential of the internet.
In a typically low-key announcement the BBC has announced that starting with the coming season they will start making certain BBC3 comedies available for download off of their website. And we're not talking about throwing a late bone to people here, either ... the first show to be offered up will be the upcoming second series of The Mighty Boosh, one of their best received shows last season, with the first episode being made available online a full week before broadcasting over the traditional network with subsequent episodes offered weekly and the entire series being kept available until the week following the broadcast of the final episode. They don't name any other titles but they do say that this will be the first of a number of shows to be made available online ... Extras, perhaps? Funland? Please?
There is no mention whatsoever of whether this will be a free or pay service but, frankly, if the quality is high and prices are reasonable I'd be more than happy to pay a small fee if they choose to go that route. Who needs TiVo? This rules.
All the info is here.
the mighty boosh.,.. not much good and didnt really do anything. they tried BBC3 and shifted repeats over to terrestrial but they moved the show in the schedules i think... didnt really take.
Hey, is it me or did the first episode of the second series really suck? Two problems a) The visual media has given them the excuse to fall back upon visual humour at the expense of the really great dialogue which was what really sold the first series and moreso the radio show. b) The change of setup and the lack of a zoo is a change in style which I miss as a hardcore viewer, I suppose they may have thought they were being fresh but the zoo backdrop certainly didn't contain them huh? Anyways, bring back Bob Fossil!!!!
Are you guys mad?? The second series has eclipsed the first by miles!! Its absolutely genius, includes more gags and the format is great, Give me Old Gregg and Milky Joe Any time!!!
gosh I love em
