Actualy jackrules, it's not an excellent point, although I can understand where he's coming from. It matters not how good a director or actor is: if a VIEWER in his experience AS A VIEWER has had bad experiences with things being remade into Hollywood movies; dicovering there's, again, more changes in yet another remake, it would naturally make one a bit nervous about what's being fiddled with.

Going back to reading the article, I don't read "this is going to suck" anywhere. Todd isn't jumping all over it with wild assumptions like the way senecablood is saying he is and is doing himself.

Anyway ...

I've never said I didn't think that The Departed would be a good film. With the cast involved and Scorsese at the helm it will, at the very least, be very well constructed and very, very interesting. Even when Scorsese's films fail - and he does have a few definite failures on his resume - they do so in interesting fashion.

What I will say is that The Departed has strayed so far from the source material - which I adore - that they probably shouldn't be referring to it as a remake any more. At this point I'll be shocked if anything beyond the two moles makes it into this film from Infernal Affairs.
