Kurt was good enough to feed me snacks and beer last night and I have decided to reward him with what he likes best: new stills from the new Guy Maddin film. We've got a much larger version of Harpoon Girl as well as a first look at a number of other shots. Continue on for the gallery ...
Wow, pictures just for me? Nice. I really like the grave-digger scene! And of course, harpoon-girl.
There are a couple more pictures here. Apparantly, somehow I missed that the film Premiered in Chicago at the Movieside Film Festival last week as a sneak preview. Not that I could have gotten to Chicago for that weekend baring a world-class fathers day gift...
Well, having now fully read the interview at the above link (previous comment), the showing in Chicago was probably only a collection of scenes...Maddin thinks there is only a 50% chance that Brand upon the Brain will be ready for a Toronto Film Festival Premiere.
As usual, I'm talking to myself in a Maddin Thread....
Can't wait for the release!
another small Maddin Tidbit here
Thanks for the link Kurt ... This is my first time looking at this site but I'm happy to see stills from this film. I was fortunate enough to meet Maddin once about 6 months ago, right before the shoot began and he said he was working on a new film, actually was going to shoot it only days after I was talking within him in LA and I was hoping that it would be The Brand Upon the Brain. Maybe my memory is incorrect, but didn't Maddin want to make this film a long time ago? Maybe it was something else ... you know?
Guy Maddin is absolutely awesome! I LOVED the saddest music. The first screening of brand upon the brain in europe will be in berlin during the Berlinale and Isabella Rossellini will be the narrator and there will be an orchestra and I'll go there and - omg - can't wait!!
