Tri: A CG Animated Film Featuring Tony Jaa!

(Posted In)

tri.jpgSo, I went over to see the lovely Jiangtou yesterday and - kind and gracious soul that he is - he loaded me down with roughly a metric tonne of of promo flyers and the Cannes issues of Variety and Screen International to wade through, hence the major flurry of posts behind this one. I imagine the torrent will continue well into tomorrow as well.

There were literally dozens of things to get excited about in the stack - Thai superhero flick Mercury Man (see below) led the pack for a while, but then he broke out the big prize. Tri: Muay Thai Chronicle, a not for children supernatural action oriented CG animated film featuring the talents of Ong Bak's Tony Jaa. The film tells a well known Thai folk tale about a young martial arts fighter who must go on a quest to the damaged Gates of Hell - fighting his way through all manner of demons on the way - and repair the gates to save the Earth from certain destruction.

I'm not certain how Tony is involved in this but he's all over the big press flyer for the film so expect no small level of involvement. At the very least I would imagine that he has done motion capture for all of the muay thai fighting sequences. Continue on in for a STACK of concept art.

Don't be so optimistic.Every single CG animation from Thailand is well-known for their horrible horrible quality.

I can't name one good animation to come out of Thailand. Very very amateurish.
