Glory! It's not an official film company announcement, but considering it comes straight from one of the group's members I consider it pretty damn solid. Those of us worrying about whether The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse will cross to these shores may worry no more: even if it doesn't it's not going to be much of a wait before we'll be able to import the DVD. Here's what Steve Pemberton says over on their official site:
"We recorded the commentary for the DVD this week which was very strange as the film isn't out yet - but apparantly we had to do it now as the DVD release date is in October and they have to translate the commentary into numerous languages. Good luck with the phrase "That giraffe spunk wasn't gloopy enough." "
Hurray!
Anyone know if this will get a US theatrical release?
I second the Hooray!
Hip hip, huzzah!

Hip hip, huzzah!
i dont know if i mentioned it before, but ive only seen one review of the film and it wasnt good. it was in TOTAL FILM, and i suspect the film might suffer from the usual bugs found in british comedy films - the writers and performers strength lies in the 30 minute tv episode format and films often feel stretched or seem to rework the familiar form of the TV show.
i hope though that this is the "odd one out" as i think the talent involved should be capable of something really good - maybe its a case of having done something different, and thats something many automatically read as "wrong"...
I've been rewatching the series in preperation for this, although quite honestly I'm not expecting much. These films of coemdy series never turn out so well and the preview of this one failed to interest me. But hey, I'll give it a try.
"Don't worry Tubbs. ...They won't get far."
I have read a view reviews and none have been particulary good. Plus the clips I have seen look far to wierd and have not even raised a smile from me! I have only ever caught odds and ends of the TV show, and to be honest it ertainly hasn't floated my boat. I should really watch a view full episodes but based on what I have seen, I really cant be bothered. I will put this film in the "may watch when it comes on TV" catogory!
How can you not laugh at the bit at the end of the trailer when tubbs says "i made a little brown fish" pure genius.
