Update on Yûdai Yamaguchi's SAKIGAKE!! CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL - THE MOVIE (SAKIGAKE!! KUROMATI KÔKÔ - THE MOVIE)

cromartie_small.jpgThe official website for Yûdai Yamaguchi's live-action Sakigake!! Cromartie High School - The Movie (Sakigake!! Kuromati Kôkô - The Movie) is now partly functional. As was previously reported here on Twitch, the movie is based on a manga serial by Eiji Nonaka. It stars Takamasa Suga as Takashi Kamiyama, Mitsuki Koga as Shinjirô Hayashida, Hiroshi Yamamoto as Akira Maeda (and possibly also Akira's mother), Hiroyuki Watanabe as Freddy, Yoshihiro Takayama as Yutaka Takenouchi, Itsuji Itao as Masked Takenouchi, Noboru Kaneko as Takeshi Hokuto, Shinji Takeda as (the voice of) Shin'ichi Mechazawa, Robert (Robâto = Ryûji Akiyama, Hiroyuki Baba, and Hiroshi Yamamoto), Shôichirô Masumoto (who wrote the screenplay for the movie) as Noboru Yamaguchi (and possibly also Gorilla), Kai Atô, Sadayoshi Shimane as Hokuto's lackey, Ken'ichi Endô as Pootan 1, Noboru Takachi as Pootan 2, and Tak Sakaguchi as Ichirô Yamamoto.

Ken'ichi Endô is in a number of other current/upcoming movies, including Kôsuke Suzuki's Oppai seijin [see Twitch article here], Takashi Ishii's Flower and Snake 2: Paris/Shizuko (Hana to hebi 2: Pari/Shizuko) [see Twitch articles here and there], Masahiro Asao's Deserted Dogs (Suteinu) [see the first, second, and third Twitch articles on it], and the omnibus horror movie 'Chô' kowai hanashi the movie: yami no eigasai [see Twitch articles here and there]. He previously starred in the Shûdan satsujin kurabu tetralogy: Shûdan satsujin kurabu (2003); Shûdan satsujin kurabu: returns (2003); Shûdan satsujin kurabu: growing (2004); and Shûdan satsujin kurabu: saigo no satsuriku (2004).

I must admit that I have watched a few episodes of the anime Cromartie High and it is frickin' hilarious. A live action of it has potential to be even better.

I couldn't stand the anime, but part of me is intrigued by how this might work as a live action film.

i'm with you right there, Jockson - they SHOULDA gotten Don Frye... Freddie doesn't speak a word, anyways... And there's that shot in Godzilla Final Wars that makes Frye look like the live action spittin' image of Freddie... i always sort of thought his character was a play on both Mercury and Frye...

WTF it looks sooooooo stupid, freddie looks like a goddamn beaner, and where the f@@k is hayashida, you are really running out of ideas nonaka, so keep making episodes of cro high, NOT THE F%#^KING MOVIE. Please do not f&@ck over the series, and make the rest of it live action, or ill make it wose and teel steven seagul play ......... i dont know beacuse he'll suck at everything he can play!!!!!
