Les Poupées Russes (The Russian Dolls) a.k.a The Spanish Apartment 2

18425307_vign.jpg Three years ago director Cedric Klapisch's film L'Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment) became an instant hit around the world and quickly transformed itself into a cult favorite. With an outstanding cast featuring Audrey Tautou (Amelie), Judith Godreche (Parlez-moi d'amour), and Romain Duris (Deja Mort) among others it was only a matter of time before a sequel appeared in cinemas. Well, it seems like the wait is almost over.
Reuniting the cast from L'Auberge Espagnole, five years later, in beautiful St.Petersburg, Russia, most of the main characters are back-older, more experienced, and not so wild....well, maybe.

In what has been a great year so far for romantic comedies particularly with the sequel to Before Sunrise (starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke) Before Sunset I am as excited as every other fan out there and hope that a North American release will appear rather soon.
Les Poupées Russes (The Russian Dolls) a.k.a The Spanish Apartment 2 is set to debut in France and Switzerland on June 15.

The original film is still waiting to turn up in the UK even on dvd. Any news on that?

If you live in the U.S. it is probably cheaper just to order it from amazon.ca the Canadian website. It will be released on DVD in Canada on Februrary 14, 2006

Thank You SOOOO Much for the info regarding Les Poupees Russes!!!! I have been searching for a way to see it for a while. I am stuck (for now) in the Southern U.S. and I know it will be quite a while before it (if it ever) makes it's way down here...I ADORE L'Aberge Espagnole!
