Oooh ... I was just perusing the website of new UK film label and DVD company Soda Pictures and spotted that their soon to release DVD for Guy Maddin's Saddest Music in the World is also going to include Cowards Bend the Knee, the film based art installation project Maddin did just after Saddest Music. Cowards will be getting a US DVD release from Zeitgeist but this may be a better way to go for neophytes who'd prefer not to double dip ... the disc is pretty loaded up. As well as Cowards it includes three Maddin short films, a making of doc, and an audio commentary. Nice. Check out all the info here.
Hopefully their encoding is better than the Seville Pictures Disc currently for sale in Canada. It's very, very grainy (beyond even Maddin's Intent, I'm sure) and severly cropped. The MGM Disc has crap cover art, but the film is much better on the Disc...However...Cowards Bend the Knee is a huge reason to upgrade the MGM disc if you have already bought it.
