DVD From Korea says the set should retail in the $70 - $80 range, so it's significantly cheaper than the HK release, too ...

I was afraid this was going to come out.. please let this have inferior image quality or something - I don't want to buy the set again! :D
It looks a lot like it's a port of the HK set though, judging by the extras, so I don't think I'll be going for it for the packaging alone.. unless I see a *really* good deal somewhere.

I can't find it on the dvdfromkorea.com, you sure you saw the price there?

Cool...I missed this the first time and I was thinking about buying the individual DVD's, sounds like a great buy. Thanks for the info Todd...keep us informed!

It's not actually listed on the DVDFromKorea site yet ... they've got the specs posted - this is where the poster at KFC got it from - and I wrote them for the pricing info. It's not set in stone yet, but they sounded pretty firm ...

i am one of those VERY few people who hasnt seen any of the trilogy, so having got my finances relatively sorted i may just buy this edition...

Definetly get it then! Great movies.. some of the best action/crime movies without m4:s, ridiculous special effects and epic fights that destroy a dozen buildings :)
Plus I really like the camerawork and some smart cuts here and there.. especially on the first one where you can see Christopher Doyle's touch.

I've got the Megastar 8-Disc version and all I've got to say is that it stinks. The picture quality is the same, the audio is a bit better, and the extras aren't even subtitled at all (with the exception of Part II). The worse thing is that the "epic" version of Infernal Affairs is just a cut and paste job. Infernal Affairs is meant to be seen unchronologically, many scenes seemed repetitive and redundant with the chronological cut. Don't waste your money on this guys.

Indeed.
The set as a whole is not very good compared to the individual releases which were fine. The only real bonuses are the fair packaging (not that good either), remastering (the actual image quality doesn't differ from the previous discs; it was fine to begin with, but judging by the first movies extra disc, they have removed all kinds of print errors in the picture although I haven't made a side-by-side comparison), corrected IA3 which had audio synch issues in earlier discs (I've got one of these discs) and the fact that you get all the movies in a nice set.
The Korean version looks a lot more appealing pricewise than the HK set unless the image quality is not as good - one of the individually released korean discs had some edge enhancement in the picture when compared to the HK discs.

But that doesn't change the fact that the movies are good, sothey are worth getting in one form or another :)

Someone posted a new release date and pics for the Korean set here: http://www.dvdtherapyjapan.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=420&start=15

Hoping it will be cheap so I can buy this set too to complement the HK box ;)

Well, there's also a re-released version of the HK set, which is cheaper and contains 6 discs, getting rid of the 2 disc re-edit of all 3 films.

Price, THREE different box designs (wonder which design they'll go with) and menu screens available at DVDasian.
Quite pricey and looks identical to the HK set, so I'll pass on this one since I already have the HK LE box.

Available for preorder at dvdheaven as well: http://www.dvdheaven.com/dvd/dvd_detail.php?idx=10965

A bit lower price but still quite pricey. Better to go for the 6-disc HK set that doesn't have the 3 films-in-one cut (which was pretty much a poor edit by MediaAsia anyway) if you don't mind missing out on the better box and book that come with the Korean release.
