Before the unfortunate let down "Silver City" I got to see the trailer for "Birth" - a new film starring Nicole Kidman and directed by Johnathon Glazer (Sexy Beast). I'm at the point now thinking that this may either suck something bad or be a surprisingly strong film. The story involves a woman whose husband dies, and as she is preparing to marry another man (Danny Huston - 21 Grams, who - watch, will start popping up everywhere now) she meets a 10 year old boy she believes to be the reincarnation of her dead husband. When she starts to fall in love with the 10 year old boy, as one could predict, things start going a little bit nuts. Interesting concept for sure, but as I said - from a 1st viewing of the trailer it seems like it'll either fall apart and burn or be a pretty strong watch. Check it out for yourself at the offical site here. It's got my attention for the time being.
this screams a pedo flick!
well, wouldn't a pedo flick involve some kind of sexual stuff?
from the trailer it just looked like a drama with some possible supernatural stuff.
not a movie that looks particulaily great, but could be decent
and an example of a pedo flick would be that piece of trash that was posted on here a while ago "Maladolescenza", i mean, i clicked on the link and nearly jumped out of my chair and clawed my eyes out.
I find it hard to believe that nicole kidman would attach herself to something that would scream "pedo" flick. It seems more the pyschological/love kinda thing - I doubt we see nicole and the lead in any form of "sexual situations" - though the rating on the bottom of the trailer does say it's reated R for "sexuality". hmmm....
I guess I was wrong because when looking for reviews of this movie I came across this is the unflattering review of "Birth" by the Hollywood Reporter "...pretty soon Anna's sharing a bathtub naked with the kid and before long she's planning to run off with him, promising to marry him in 11 years when he turns 21.." damn. (that's my damn.)
